Documentary | Lee Kang-hyo | Onggi Master | Teaser
Our documentary tells the story of one of the most respected Korean potters, Lee Kang-hyo and his search for a beautiful life, through his work with clay and the love of his family. Set against the backdrop of his South Korean studio, it gives an insight into the spiritual journey that plays a vital part in his artistic practice.
Lee is world-famous for mastering the traditional Korean technique called Onggi - a technique that allows him to make enormous, often man-sized pots. Watch him construct three of these giant Onggi pots over a five-day period, culminating in an exciting explosion of glaze and colour as Lee sets about decorating them in his inimitable fashion.

Yes so sad that Phil isn’t around. Was lucky to see him when Ken Masuzaki had exhibition at Goldmark. Fortunate that we have a lot of videos of his work.

I’ve watched a few videos about Phil in the last few days, had no idea he passed away in 2020 😢 and crap, he was only 69?! 😢😢
I'm so sad to lose the original video that was much longer and without the music. The regular sounds of throwing were fine without the dubbed music. What happened to the original?! Please please consider uploading the original video since it was much better than this one.

"Perfect imperfection". What she was missing or not understanding in the misshapen tea bowls is the Zen nature of the "tea" and the "chowan".

Was able to see Ken's work at the Pucker Gallery in Boston. Holding his pieces is a very special experience that I'll never forget. His treatment with form and with glaze is subtle and powerful at the same time...somehow.
